The Jim Collins Foundation is pleased to announce the Krysallis Anne Hembrough Legacy Fund, which will provide gender-affirming surgery funds for JCF grantees who are able to match each dollar received.
Krys Anne was a very special woman who described her transition as an “emergence from cocoon to butterfly.” Her life and battle with terminal illness was beautifully chronicled in the documentary, Gen Silent, and she was a fierce advocate for diversity and acceptance, championing the rights of all people to live authentically. To learn more about Krys Anne, see her bio here.
For so many transgender people, access to surgery is out of reach. The Jim Collins Foundation raises money to fund gender-affirming surgeries for those transgender people who need surgery to live a healthy life, but do not have the ability to pay for it themselves. Thanks to her legacy gift, the Jim Collins Foundation will be able to provide additional grants for transgender people seeking gender-affirming surgery. We will have two funds:
1. General Fund – Grants cover 100% of the surgical costs associated with the gender-affirming surgery.
2. Krysallis Anne Hembrough Legacy Fund – Grants cover 50% of the surgical costs associated with the gender-affirming surgery, and require each recipient to match each dollar of funds received from with a dollar of their own money or other money raised by the recipient.
Applicants may only apply once per grant cycle and must choose to be considered for either the General Fund or the Krysallis Anne Hembrough Legacy Fund.
