JCF Announces New Board President and Vice President
Friday March 27, 2015 (New York, NY) — The Jim Collins Foundation is pleased to announce a new grant available through the Krysallis Anne Hembrough Legacy Fund, for JCF grantees who are able to match each dollar received. The Jim Collins Foundation will continue offering gender-affirming surgery grants from its general fund, which covers 100% of medical fees. Applicants may only apply once per grant cycle and must choose to be considered for either the General Fund or the Krysallis Anne Hembrough Legacy Fund. The next JCF grant cycle opens April 1, 2015 and will be available at jimcollinsfoundation.org.
Hembrough’s life and battle with terminal illness was beautifully chronicled in the award-winning documentary, Gen Silent, which has been screened at film festivals internationally, as well as medical centers, universities, Fortune 500 companies, and many conferences and events.
Newly elected JCF President Kylie Aquino said, “Krysallis Anne Hembrough described her transition as an emergence from a cocoon to butterfly. She was a fierce advocate for diversity and acceptance, and the Jim Collins Foundation is grateful for her generous gift that will directly impact the lives of people in need.”
Newly elected JCF Vice President lore m. dickey said, “As a trans-led organization with a unique mission to provide funds for gender-affirming surgeries to people in need, the Jim Collins Foundation is powerful in its focus and serves as a light in the dark for so many who struggle. We look forward to giving out more grants as a result of Krys Anne’s gift, and we are hopeful that others will consider the Jim Collins Foundation in their giving as well.”
JCF Co-Founders Tony Ferraiolo and Dru Levasseur, who will remain on the JCF Board of Directors, commented on the growth of the Jim Collins Foundation: “Serving the transgender community through the Jim Collins Foundation is a tremendous honor, and it is exciting to see how the organization continues to expand each year. Over the last few years, we have grown the number of grants we give out annually, had success with a variety of fundraising efforts, and increased our overall organizational visibility. As Kylie Aquino and lore m. dickey take the reins, with their passion and wealth of experience, we look forward to seeing the Jim Collins Foundation go even further in raising awareness about the critical need for transition-related health care and helping to make dreams come true.”
“Be well, safe, and joyously happy. It is our right!”
